So beautiful...

Above: artist Mimi's exciting representation of how Everland might look once built.

This is the exciting bit, since this page is where we will list the progress we are all making, and what we have achieved for the children, in Michael’s memory. Donors will be listed below and a list of the full names and countries of all donors, together with amounts and which stage each person has donated to, will be presented to those in charge of Everland once the building is complete. Current needs will be posted periodically on our Facebook Page.

The site was launched on 7th August 2011. In just two weeks, fans and their families and friends spanning seven countries successfully raised all the funds necessary for the first stage, which was the clearing and excavation of the land. By the end of October 2011, and just as the jury went into deliberation in the trial of Conrad Murray, we had raised all the money for the concrete foundations and the digging of the trenches.

At the beginning of November 2011, we began the most exciting and yet challenging part of the journey in raising money for Stage 3: the brickwork. This is the largest stage in the entire process, and it will entail raising more money than we have raised or need to raise in any other stage. We thus expect it will take some time to accomplish. However, fans and their friends, families and work colleagues exceeded all expectations donating well over £1000 in December 2011 alone - our best month to date. We had hoped to have 25% of the funding raised by the end of the year, and in fact, we ended the year with well over that! What's more, we started the new year with two little girls fully sponsored for 2012.

By 17th January 2012, generous fans from 19 different countries had enabled us to collect £5000: a third of the monies needed to build the orphanage! It seemed like a miracle to have collected so much in just five and a half months, but Michael's fans continue to drive this project forward towards the goal. January 2012 was a slower month than December 2011, as could be expected, but several things happened throughout the month which ensured that progress never stood still. One faithful fan allowed us to auction her precious rare Italian magazine L'Oumo Vogue, with Michael gracing the cover. Then another dedicated fan decided to sell numerous treasured items from his collection to benefit the cause. In addition to this, Michael's friend and renowned artist, Nate Giorgio, sent our Susie several stunning paintings on rice paper for us to auction after she wrote and told him about the Everland project. Given that Nate Giorgio's work is often only sold through private commissions, these paintings are likely to raise several thousand pounds for the building and get us much closer to the amount needed to start the work!

On 31st January 2012, we held 'Listen for Liberia', our first fundraising event. An open mic night in Maidenhead, UK, it raised over £500 towards the brickwork thanks to several talented musicians who gave of their time and talents freely in order to help build Everland. This event, plus purchases and donations from fans who by now were spread across 22 countries, catapulted the funds for Everland to over £6000. Just six months since MJL was borne out of grief and sadness, we needed less than £1000 to complete the funding for the brickwork.

February was a slow month in which we raised just over £400 in donations, but by this time we had five children sponsored in Michael's memory by caring fans as far afield as Italy, the USA, Ireland and Vietnam. We were also humbled and blessed to have Dr Patrick Treacy join us as our Honorary Ambassador.

March was an incredible month for MJL and Everland. We had forty donors who gave a massive £1606 ($2571.69 USD) between them, which culminated in the brickwork funding - our most challenging stage of all - being completed by mid-month, and over half the roof funded by the end of the month. By the end of March, we needed just over £800 ($1281 USD) to complete the roof, and by this time had nine children sponsored in Michael's memory.

April 2012 was another incredible month for MJL and Everland. 37 donors together with purchases and other initiatives brought in an incredible £1227 ($1990 USD), resulting in the completion of the roof fundraising by 18th April and around a third of the window funding complete by the end of the month. This was helped along by our Honorary Ambassador, Dr Patrick Treacy, who kindly donated a genuine signature of Michael's for auction. Our talented artist Mimi draw a gorgeous picture of Michael as 'King Sani' and both were successfully auctioned, raising $625. Of that, $550 went towards buying the pastor and overseer of the project a laptop, to enable him to send back pictures of the building going up, and the rest was added to fundraising for the windows. By the end of April 2012, four more children had been sponsored in Michael's memory, raising the total to 13 children getting an education, school equipment, clothing and sufficient food, thanks to fans around the world!

May 2012 was a very exciting month in the history of MJL. By 8th May, all 17 children on the website were being fully sponsored by fans worldwide, and by 10th, in large part due to a huge gift by a donor wishing to remain anonymous, fundraising for the brickwork was fully completed. In fact, in the month of May alone, we raised over £2115 ($3253 USD) for the building. It was thus considered worth the risk to start the groundwork and land clearance began on 21st May 2012, followed shortly after by the digging of the trenches and foundations. Those who got involved early in the process saw their contributions to stage 1 and/or 2 take on a new meaning as we were able to share the very first pictures of Everland Children's Home taking shape.

June 2012 saw the completion of the fundraising for the first ever orphanage built in Michael's memory. What a month! What was set to be a sombre month with the third anniversary of Michael's passing also proved to be an emotional month in many other ways too, with tears of joy intermingled with those of sadness and reflection. exceeded all expectations by giving an unbelievable £4659 ($7219) in June alone, completing Stage 7, 8, 9 and 10! Less than 11 months since the launch of this project, funds for the entire building was were secured. Forty-five donors came forward to give during the month, and Walk London for Liberia (MJL's first sponsored walk which was initiated and orchestrated by an invaluable long term supporter) raised almost £1400 alone. Subsequently, a large donation made on 22nd June, just one day after the builders began to start on the brickwork and just three days before a poignant date in which fans worldwide would hold Michael in rememberance, ensured the whole £15,000 for the building was secured. Hopelessness was being turned into hope; despair to encouragement. The message is loud and clear. Nothing can bring Michael back, but those who care about his legacy will ensure that his message and his work will live on forever. As the pastor overseeing the project in Liberia emailed as the brickwork began, "They killed our dreamer, but they cannot kill his dream." On 25th June, the workmen defied a downpour during Africa's rainy season and sang Michael's songs in the rain, in memory of the humanitarian star who inspired the project.

We go again:

MJ FANS DEMONSTRATION AGAINST MJ'S MEDIA EXPLOITATION OF PERSONAL MEDICAL DATA

The MTV Movie Awards have come and gone. Many Americans know that, devoid of Michael Jackson there would not be an MTV. Perhaps the first MTV movie was Thriller. It was scary, funny and dramatic, and is yet loved all over the world.
Michael Jackson will soon be playing a posthumous part. It will be scary and dramatic, but it will in no wise be funny. It is a matter of showing his naked body, autopsied on the front of a magazine. Nevertheless, these people are out of sync. The let’s beat MJ days have ended. The world is watching, and the world has much to say. Be careful who you hate.

This article will explore the thoughts of different countries, and will implore you to give great consideration to the request from Greece at the end.Michael Jackson will soon be playing a posthumous part. This article will explore the thoughts of different countries, and will implore you to give great consideration to the request from Greece at the end.
Rome
The most important church in Rome says, let us cease devaluing this man.
“On June 25 Michael Jackson will be remembered in one of the most important churches in Rome, “Santa Maria in Montesanto”, known as the “Church of the Artists” because for over 50 years every Sunday a Holy Mass is celebrated in the presence of famous people in the entertainment industry, culture and art. In that same church, located in one of the most beautiful squares in the world – Piazza del Popolo, funerals of people connected to the world of art, film and music are often celebrated.
‘In this church, at 7:30 p.m., to honor Michael Jackson four years after his passing, a Mass will be celebrated by Father Walter Insero, who we’d like to thank for understanding our desire to help others and the real meaning that’s the core of every initiative of ours.”
Ireland
Millie and Gavin Murray of Ireland say it is time to stop the cruelty. It is time to stop abusing his spirit. "PETROL bomb victims Millie and Gavin Murray never got to meet singer Michael Jackson, in spite of his repeated pleas to see them, but now a major tribute group of the singer wants them to “have a place in his heart.”
The children, who suffered horrific skin burns in an infamous petrol bomb attack in Moyross seven years ago, have been asked to take part in the Michael Jackson tribute portrait, which has seen some of the world’s most famous stars place a dot in a portrait of the late singer."

Liberia
“Steadfast foundations and faithful fans will ensure that Michael Jackson’s legacy of love never dies.”
Michael Jackson’s Legacy (MJL) is a charitable organisation dedicated to continuing Michael Jackson’s humanitarian legacy in his absence, and thereby making the world a better place. Michael Jackson inspired love, hope and compassion worldwide through his music and through his humanitarian work on behalf of the suffering and underprivileged, and we are committed to continuing his legacy of love in his memory and through his example. Our projects will reflect issues that he cared deeply about: the welfare of children and animals, the protection of the environment, and the elimination of needless suffering. We as individuals do not have the influence that a worldwide superstar can procure, but as individuals, we can ‘make that change’ and collectively, we can make a difference.

Still we are left with The National Enquirer, who would rather see Michael Jackson's Naked body on the front of their tabloid, Greece does not agree, and has begun speaking to all media, worldwide. They speak cordially, and have a massive amount of followers from all across the globe.

Greece We encouraged all MJ forums, fan clubs, organization and individuals to join us in this letter to the media and also please do sign our petition.

Soon the case of Katherine Jackson vs. AEG will begin and Michael Jackson’s death and intimate details of his life will once again be a part of the nightly news.

Michael’s fan base is 100 Million strong and growing every day. We are a large part of your audience and you can be sure we are very much interested in a fair, balanced, unbiased and most importantly accurate portrayal of Michael Jackson.
We understand that the case will be interesting to the world; not just to his fans.

While the media dissects Jackson’s life again, nearly four years after his untimely death, we have one request. Recently, the National Enquirer posted Michael Jackson’s semi-nude autopsy picture on their front page and then used the same as its background on the National Enquirer, Twitter account.

As journalists, it is imperative you abide by the code of ethics, which specifically calls for you to minimize harm to those adversely affected; using special sensitivity to children. To his multitude of fans, his Estate, his family and especially his three minor children the use of Michael Jackson’s autopsy photo is not only inappropriate and unethical, and unduly cruel to his children.

We are humbly requesting that your respectable news agency will not stoop to such a barbaric display of disrespectful disregard and instead bestow a bit of grace upon his children by refraining from posting this autopsy photograph during any of your coverage of this story.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this important matter.

For the sake of the many, the signatures have not been included. However, the petition is clearly worth much, much consideration.

The Mirror, the People, and the settlement that never was...

It's a funny thing. Ever since the high-profile Michael Jackson death trial started going pear-shaped for promoter AEG Live, a lot of newspapers which carry prominent and lucrative advertising for its events have become more intent on smearing Michael Jackson than ever.

Leading the way has been The Mirror in the UK. A few weeks ago, contemporaneous emails presented at trial showed that AEG boss Randy Phillips had 'slapped' Michael Jackson because he was scared about attending a press conference. Slapped him and screamed at him 'so loud the walls shook'.

The shocking revelation was widely ignored by the press. Several days after the evidence was heard in open court, only one outlet had summoned the courage to publish the evidence. AP did not include the testimony in its daily missive from the courtroom. The wire's reporter claimed on twitter he had been out of the courtroom sending emails when the testimony occurred.

It was only when fans started making noise about the 'cover-up' on sites like Twitter that other media companies grudgingly published the comments. AEG-sponsored newspapers like the Mirror, though, bizarrely tried to paint Michael Jackson as the bad guy. According to the first line of the Mirror's story, Jackson 'needed to be slapped'. Interestingly, the Mirror was a lot faster to publish a story last year accusing Janet Jackson of slapping a minor. A story which turned out to be a lie.

This weekend - days after Jackson's son took the stand and testified that he saw Phillips in his home while his father was not there, behaving 'aggressively' towards Jackson's doctor - the Mirror's Sunday edition, called the People, is at it again. It has published a highly misleading story about some 'FBI files' which allegedly show Michael Jackson was witnessed molesting children by multiple Neverland employees. The 'FBI files' also detail a supposed settlement with a young accuser in 1992 - before the Jordy Chandler case.

In reality, the story is a nonsense; a birds nest of mangled and misstated accusations which are neither 'new' nor 'exclusive', despite the People's repeated claims that they are. In fact, the documents are not 'FBI files' at all. This is a flat-out lie. Moreover, the claims have all been in the public domain for a very long time, some having been discredited two decades ago.

Of course, most readers won't bother to fact-check the story. Why would they? The newspaper is supposed to do that before publishing it. Sadly, it seems other media outlets can't be bothered either. Britain's Mail newspaper has already rehashed the story, evidently making no attempt to investigate its veracity before doing so.

I could go into a whole lot of detail about the claims made by the People - and the various lazy journalists who will copy and paste its story hundreds, or perhaps thousands of times onto their own websites and into their own newspapers in the coming days. But what is the point? The info is already in the public domain.

Those who hate Jackson will adopt the People's story as evidence for their case. Those with an interest in hearing both sides of Jackson's case will already know that these claims were debunked a long time ago. Nobody else will even bother to research the story. The People's readers buy the newspaper because they like and trust it. They, as intended, will believe this story and will not question it.

Briefly, however, for the record:

1) The 'FBI files' are not FBI files. They are transcripts of interviews compiled by a tabloid journalist who paid his sources - including one who turned out not to exist. They were acquired by a PI who worked for Jackson's defence team. A decade later, he was prosecuted for tapping phones. The FBI seized all of his files, of which these tabloid interviews formed a miniscule part.

2) The allegations of Jackson being caught by multiple employees do not, as the People infers, come from a host of different documents. They all come from one document - a transcript of an interview with a couple called the LeMarques, who worked at Neverland in the late 80s and early 90s. The People intentionally does not state that all of these uncorroborated accusations come from just one of the documents, instead purposely misleading readers and suggesting that they're taken from a cache of evidence.

The LeMarques never contacted police about the abuse they claimed to have witnessed, instead opting to negotiate deals with tabloid newspapers - including the Mirror. Their claims were investigated by cops probing Jackson, who found the couple had agreed to add increasingly graphic details to their interviews for more and more money. Investigators concluded in the 90s that the pair had no credibility and possessed no evidence of any genuine abuse. They were called on out of desperation to testify in Jackson's 2005 trial after prosecutors watched their case begin to disintegrate, but were destroyed under cross-examination. Jurors rejected their testimony and acquitted Jackson, unanimously.

3) The supposed 'settlement' in 1992 was detailed to a tabloid reporter, for money, by a female source who claimed to work for Jordan Chandler's legal firm. She never showed the reporter a document - she simply 'read it out' over the phone. A police investigation into the claim found that the boy named in the settlement did not exist, there was no record of any settlement ever being paid, and the female source had never worked for the legal firm and in fact did not exist. She was never heard of again.

This leaves one element of the People's story standing; that Jackson 'allegedly' - what a convenient little word that is - paid $35million to two-dozen young accusers. The newspaper presents no evidence to corroborate this claim. Just a note in the tabloid reporter's documents, which the People intentionally misrepresents as an 'FBI file'.

Contrary to the People's claim, investigators knew about and investigated these tapes as part of their probe into Jackson in 2003/4, in which they were assisted by the FBI. Despite all of their resources, neither the Californian police nor the FBI was ever able to locate any evidence that any child besides Jordan Chandler or Jason Francia ever received a settlement.

During a television interview Dr. Patrick Treacy speaks of Michael Jackson -

“In Mahavanain Buddhism, there is an enlightened existence known as the ‘bodhisattva’ who decides to postpone attainment of nirvana in order to alleviate the suffering of others. In my own lifetime, I have been fortunate to have met some of these visionaries, Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, Bono, John Lennon and Michael Jackson”.

He continued “Only five people in nearly half a century, just enough to count on the fingers of one hand. Each of them, intrinsically motivated by a sense of great compassion, generating bodhicitta for the ultimate benefit of all sentient beings. All of these people, hugely influential, global messengers using their powers to try and make the world a better place for each of us to live in. Nelson Mandela stood against the injustice of apartheid, Mother Theresa and Bono against the injustice of poverty, John Lennon against the injustice of war but Michael Jackson went further. His body of artistic work carried a spiritual message for these and all of the other injustices of the human race…those of racism, inequality, disease, hunger and corruption.”
